Our work

Mwenje works to create a permissive and supportive ecosystem to enable, empower and encourage Zimbabwean children facing existential challenges to reach their potential in education, ambition and contribution to the human condition. Our work includes providing education scholarships, training in creative skills for self-sufficiency, establishing/stocking libraries and providing education and personal resources. In 2020 we also provided reusable face masks to children in rural Zimbabwe. We have worked with individuals, schools and orphanages and where necessary, we leverage our networks to deliver our mission and meet our vision.

Our Youth advocates Varaidzo and Young KayC Jr have their ear on the ground and are in tune with youth happenings. They are an invaluable link to the youth we work with. They also provide peer mentorship and are relatable role models.

These have included Chengetedza   (https://chengetedza.com/) who have provided sewing training to girls at an orphanage we support, Girls R US (https://www.facebook.com/girlsruszw/) who have provided sanitary and personal hygiene products and University of Edinburgh Craft Fair.
